October 19, 2002 - Stonehill Equestrian topped host Boston University in an impressive 42-40 victory in Hanover, Mass.  The competition came down to Stonehill's Amanda Welker, who clinched a blue ribbon in the walk-trot class. Classmates Tom Brennan, Samantha Vopat, and Erin Fletcher each finished high and their respective events, as well.

Stonehill Men Rack Up All-Conference Awards

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill men's tennis team was rewarded for their impressive regular season, as six different players received First-Team All-Conference recognition as announced by the Northeast-10 on Sunday. 

The Skyhawks were led by sophomore Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) who was a first-team selection at No. 1 singles and also took home NE-10 Player of the Year honors.

Junior Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.) and seniors Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) and Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) were also first-team selections at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles respectively. 

In doubles, it was a Stonehill sweep of first-team accolades as all three Skyhawk duos were First-Team All-Conference selections. Fayed and Mashkevich received the honor at No. 1 doubles while Allegretti and Herchel took it at No. 2.  In No. 3 doubles it was the team of junior Mike Leone (Catamet, Mass.) and freshman Charlie Sherman (Heloron, Conn.) who received first-team accolades. 

Sophomore Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I.) was the lone Skyhawk to earn second-team honors, as he was awarded for his play at No. 6 singles. 

The Skyhawks next take to the court for the NCAA Championships, with play beginning on May 7.
