May 10, 1985 - Immediately following her final game, Softball pitcher Julie McGivern's number 22 was retired.  The 5-foot-3 McGivern finished with 30 career victories and 12 shutouts, both school records at the time. McGivern was also the recipient of the Edward E. Martin Award.


Men Take Eight in Win Over Salem State

Salem, Mass. - The Stonehill College Men's Tennis team (5-3, 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference) claimed their fifth victory of the season with a 8-1 win over Salem State.  The win marks the fourth time Stonehill has beat an opponent, 8-1.

Senior Mike Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) improved to 4-0 in singles competition.  He defeated Salem State's Alex Eisath, 8-2.  Allen later teamed with Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) to win their second straight at third doubles, 8-3.  The duo is 5-2 overall.

The men will compete in three straight Northeast-10 Conference games in the next week.  They start with Souther N.H. on Tuesday, March 25th.
