October 4, 1993 - Women's soccer senior forward Anne O'Doherty tied a school record by nailing four goals in Stonehill's 5-2 victory over Bryant.  O'Doherty tied Lisa Cirillo's 1988 mark.  In addition to her four goals, Cirillo's single assist allowed her to retain the single-game points record.

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Men's Tennis team (17-5, 9-1 Northeast-10 Conference) defeated the Southern N.H. University Penmen (4-8, 4-6 Northeast-10 Conference) 5-0 on Tuesday.  The Skyhawks, the number two seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament, made quick work of the number seven seeded Penmen, taking three doubles matches and two singles contests in the best-of-nine competition.

Senior captain Michael Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) and junior William Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) each completed a 2-0 day in the post-season victory.  Herchel led the way for the Skyhawks, teaming with Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) for the 8-0 victory at second singles.  From there, Herchel went on increase his team-best individual record to 16-6 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles.

Allen claimed his seventh straight victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles over Southern N.H.'s Shane Cochran.  Earlier, Allen teamed with freshman Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) for an 8-1 defeat of Mark McDonald and Shane Cochran.  Allen is a combined 19-3 in doubles and singles action.

Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) finished with one of Stonehill's five victories.  The duo defeated Luis Ramirez and David Spaggiari, 9-8, at first doubles.  They are 9-5 at the team's top doubles spot.                                                          

The men return to action Thursday at 3:00 p.m.  The Skyhawks will take on the winner of Tuesday's match between the Pace Setters at Merrimack College.  Because Stonehill is the higher seed, the Skyhawks will have home-court advantage.
