May 5, 1990 - Sharon Birnie, a junior on the Stonehill College Equestrian team, became the first Stonehill student to ride in the intercollegiate national competition.  Birnie, who competed in Novice Jumping, placed second at both the regionals and zone competition to earn her spot at nationals.

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Men's Tennis team (8-3, 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference) kept their perfect conference record in tact with a 9-0 defeat of the Pace University Setters (4-6, 3-2 Northeast-10 Conference) Sunday afternoon at the Stonehill Courts.  The 9-0 blanking is the fourth straight win for the men, and third straight shut out. 

Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) improved to 9-1 with his third consecutive victory at third singles.  Allegretti, a junior, defeat Pace's Andrew Hagen, 6-0, 6-1 on his way to a perfect 4-0 NE-10 Conference mark, as well.

Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) won 6-0, 6-0 to better his personal record of 5-4 at first singles.  The sophomore also teamed with freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) for a 8-3 win in first doubles competition.

Fayed is currently riding a four-match unbeaten streak at second singles.  Fayed, a rookie, defeat Neil Mirchandani, 6-2, 6-3 to bring his record to 8-2 overall.

Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) was the only Skyhawk to not lose a set in Sunday's competition.  Herchel, a junior, took fourth singles 6-0, 6-0.  He later teamed with Allegretti to win second doubles 8-0 over Andrew Hagen and Garett Boyd.
