Freshman Leads Skyhawks Past Camels, 6-3

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill Men's Tennis team (11-4, 4-0
Northeast-10 Conference) took care of Division III Connecticut
College (3-10) on Tuesday, 6-3. For the eighth time this
season, the Skyhawks swept their doubles events on their way to a
win. The victory marks the Purple and White's seventh win in
their last eight contests.
Freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) and sophomore Mike Leone
(Cataumet, Mass./Bourne) both won their individual matches at first
and fourth singles respectfully. Fayed improved to 2-0 at the
top-spot with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 win over Conn. College's Dave
Kellogg. Leone improved his personal record to 5-1 with a
dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Andrew Watts. The Skyhawk duo
teamed up to earn a win at second doubles, 8-4 over Kellogg and
freshman Trevor Prophet.
Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) had a 2-0
day, winning at both second singles and first doubles with teammate
William Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Hampden).
Allegretti's 6-2, 6-3 win tied him with Fayed's team-best 11-3
mark.
Senior captain Mike Allen (Norwell,
Mass./Norwell) and senior John McGaffigan (Dedham,
Mass./Dedham) claimed Stonehill's sixth win, 8-4 at third
singles. The victory was the pair's first in 2008.
The men travel to American International College (2-3, 2-3 NE-10)
on Thursday to take on the Yellow Jackets in a Northeast-10
Conference match up. The match is scheduled for 3:30
PM.
