EASTON, Mass.-- Four individuals triumphed in both singles and doubles action in leading Stonehill to a 9-0 Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis dual-match victory over LeMoyne Friday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts.
Senior Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.), sophomore Will Herchel (Hampden, Conn.) and freshmen Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.) and Mike Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) were all straight set winners in singles play for the host Skyhawks (12-4, 8-1 Northeast-10), while junior John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass.) and sophomore Dustin Marshall (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also added straight set singles wins on the day. Mashkevich and Grabala teamed up for an 8-6 victory at number one doubles, while Herchel and sophomore Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) notched an 8-5 win at the number two doubles spot. Leone and senior Andy DeVita (Milford, Mass.) helped complete the Stonehill sweep with an 8-3 triumph at number three doubles.
The visiting Dolphins fall to 3-7 overall and 2-7 in Northeast-10 play with the result.
Both teams will head to Smithfield, R.I. for their next respective Northeast-10 dual-matches against Bryant, as Stonehill will take on the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. after LeMoyne squares off with Bryant later this evening at 8:00 p.m.
