April 27. 1981 - Stonehill Softball earned their second consecutive MAIAW Division III State Championship with a 4-3 victory over Holy Cross.  A late single from Sharon Donovan scored Elissa Santos and Sally Scully to give Stonehill the win.  The win gave the College their first appearance in the EAIAW Division III Regional Tournament.



Junior Brandon McFarlane made seven saves in goal for the Skyhawks tonight.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 26, 2009) - Southern Connecticut State University, ranked ninth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, got a second half goal to edge Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Jess Dow Field tonight.

Sophomore forward Cedric Panzu (Mons-En-Baroeul, France) broke the deadlock with his second goal of the season 9:58 into the second half. He got on the end of a cross from the right side by classmate Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) and headed it into the left corner. Southern was credited with a 16-1 advantage in shots for the second half after the two sides played through a scoreless first half with a combined eight shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn./East Haven) made four saves (three first half) to preserve his first shutout of the season. Junior Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) finished with seven stops in goal for Stonehill.

Stonehill nearly opened the scoring in the 20th minute when sophomore Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) got through the Southern backline and found himself on a breakaway. However, Esposito charged off his line and made a kick save on White's shot attempt to keep the match scoreless.

Stonehill (5-4-1, 1-4-1 NE-10) returns home on Tuesday to host the University of Massachusetts Lowell at 4 p.m. Southern Connecticut (6-2-1, 3-1-1 NE-10) visits The College of Saint Rose on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
