EASTON, Mass. (August 28, 2009) - Stonehill College opened its 2009 season with a 2-1 victory over Felician College in non-conference men's soccer action on day one of the Skyhawks Kickoff Classic at Skyhawk Field this afternoon.

Senior captain Shaun Keeley (Woburn, Mass./Woburn) and sophomore Christopher Agan (Niskayuna, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) both scored goals for Stonehill, while junior Kevin Moroney (Medway, Mass./Medway) dished an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Brandon McFarlane made two huge saves late to preserve today's win.

Junior goalkeeper Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) made two saves to preserve the victory for Stonehill as the Skyhawks enjoyed a 21-4 advantage in shots for the match and did not yield a goal in the run of play. Freshman David Lo Bue (Elmwood Park, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) finished with nine stops in his collegiate debut for Felician, which also had two defenders clear balls of the line as well.

Sophomore Carlos Canido (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) netted the lone Felician goal with a penalty kick in the 75th minute to cut the Falcons deficit in half.

Stonehill netted both its goals in a six minute span just past the half hour mark in the first half. Agan knocked in a serve from deep down the right flank from Moroney at the far post to open the scoring at 30:40. Keeley doubled the Skyhawks lead less than six minutes later when he flipped a left-footed shot from the top of the six over Lo Bue and into the upper left corner at 36:38.

Felician gave Stonehill a scare late in regulation, but McFarlane came up big with his only two saves in the match by stuffing two point-blank bids by Felician senior Quincy Small (Linden, Guyana) in the 88th minute.

Stonehill (1-0, 0-0 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow for day two of its Skyhawks Kickoff Classic when it hosts Concordia (N.Y.) College at noon.
