Pleasantville, N.Y. - Pace
senior forward Desmond Quincy-Jones scored a game-high 26 points leading the Pace University men's basketball team to an 82-67 victory over Stonehill this afternoon in a key Northeast-10 Conference game at the Goldstein Center. The Setters improved their overall record to an even 9-9, 8-5 in NE-10 play, while the Skyhawks fell to 13-8 on the season, 9-5 in conference play.

The Setters came out of the gates on fire starting the game on a 13-0 run and never looked back. Gibraltar White led the run hitting a pair of three pointers, while Quincy-Jones added a pair of jumpers. Stonehill's first basket of the contest came at the 14:10 mark on a lay-up by Mike Kernan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee).

Up by 10, 32-22, with 4:46 left in the half, Pace continued to control the game building their lead to as a many as 22, 44-22, on a 12-0 run capped by a Quincy-Jones jumper with 10 seconds remaining. The Setters would head into the break with a 19-point cushion, as Randall Stallworth (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) hit a 30-foot three-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 44-25.

The halftime score would have been a great deal more, had not been for the perimeter marksmanship of freshman Vince Rosario (Perth Amboy, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick), who knocked down four of his career-high seven triples in the first 20 minutes.

Pace remained in control in the second half, as the Skyhawks were never able to get to within single digits. The closest Stonehill would get was on a layup by A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe, N.J./Monroe) that cut their deficit to 11, 61-50, with 8:24 remaining.

The Setters had an answer however, as Ryan Williams and White would answer with back-to-back three-pointers as Pace cruised down the stretch to the 15-point victory.

Quincy-Jones shot 11-for-19 from the field, including 2-for-4 from three and 2-for-3 from the line, to go along with five rebounds. Williams added 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including 2 of 3 from three, to go along with six rebounds, while White finished the game with 17 points, hitting 3 of 7 from beyond the arc, and a team-best seven rebounds.

Rosario's 21 points were a team high for Stonehill, as he went 7-for-12 from behind the arc as the Skyhawks made 12 of their 35 attempts from three-point territory.

Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) finished the game with a double-double, scoring 16 points, hitting four treys, and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.

Rudowitz and Colin Scanlon (Centreville, Va./Flint Hill) chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively, while Stallworth dished out eight assists without committing a turnover on the afternoon.

Pace shot 54.2% (32-for-59) from the field, including 50.0% (8-for-16) from three, while Stonehill shot 41.0% (25-for-61) from the field, including 34.3% (12-for-35) from three.

Stonehill returns to action on Saturday when it travels to LeMoyne for a 3:30 p.m. start.
