After helping lead the Skyhawks to their first conference championship, Garry Hebert, who served as an associate coach the past two seasons, was named head coach of the men's ice hockey program.  The announcement was made September 19, 2007.

Hebert, who brings over thirty years of experience, is internationally recognized as a consultant to NHL and Olympic athletes.  In two years, Hebert helped led Stonehill to their most successful seasons in program history, culminating with last season's Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Honored as an All-American out of Thayer Academy, Garry played Division I college hockey at the University of Vermont, where he was a top recruit and standout athlete.  A unfortunate injury ended the prospects of a professional career and led to Hebert's focus on coaching.  Hebert led Essex High School to numerous Division I State Championships and a "National Top Ten" ranking.  His efforts led to him being named "Coach of the Year."

Hebert owns the World Academy of Hockey, where he has trained several current NHL players in all phases of the game.  He is also the co-founder of the Hockey Humanitarian Award, created in 1996 to honor college hockey's finest citizen.

He and his wife Michele, reside in Rockland, Mass., with their two sons, Tyler and Derek, both who have ties to Stonehill athletics. Tyler, who was named the SportQuest All-American Male Athlete of the Year in 2007 given annually to the top Christian high school male athlete in the United States, is a member of the Skyhawks soccer team. Derek meanwhile earned All-America honors in the 800-meter relays as a member of the track and field team before graduating in the spring of 2008.
