April 19, 2007 - Senior Andy DeVita was a winner in both singles and doubles action as second-seeded Stonehill presented Head Coach Peter Miller with his 200th career victory in a 5-0 dual-match triumph over seventh-seeded Pace in quarterfinal round play of the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Tennis Championships.


Skyhawks Honored For Academics By NFHCA

11 members of the Stonehill field hockey team have been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their performance in the classroom it has been announced. The team as a whole has also been acknowledged as one of 13 Division II programs that had a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Maria Bajnoczi (Norwalk, Conn.), Michaela Deasy (North Falmouth, Mass.), Courtney Foley (Wakefield, Mass.), Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass.), Lauren Gifford (Goffstown, N.H.), Stephanie Kott (Rutland, Mass.), Ashley March (Schwenksville, Pa.), Laura Menke (Greenland, N.H.), Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) Laura Noce (Sudbury, Mass.) and Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) were the student-athletes honored.
Stonehill Leads The Way With Academic All-Conference Honorees

The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its All-Academic teams for the 2008 Fall athletic season. A total of 75 student-athletes representing all 15 Northeast-10 institutions have been named to the teams and Stonehill and Bentley featured the most student-athletes selected with ten. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
Hourihan Named ECAC Division II All-Star

After a record-setting season that saw her shatter the school marks for goals (20) and points (48), junior Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) has been named an ECAC All-Star it was announced recently. After scoring just one goal in the first four games she netted 19 in the final 16 matchups. During her record-setting season, she had six games of two goals or more including a three-goal performance in a win over American International. Hourihan, who ranks third on the school’s all-time goals list (29), helped lead the Skyhawks to a 13-8 record and a pair of extended winning streaks during head coach Shelly Morris’ first season.
