Ladino, Kott Named to NFHCA North All-Star Squad
Skyhawks set to participate in 2009 NFHCA Division II All-Star Game on Saturday
EASTON, Mass. (November 18, 2009) - Stonehill College seniors Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) and Stephanie Kott (Rutland, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) have both been selected to participate in the 2009 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game this weekend as part of Final Four weekend of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships, hosted by Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Ladino and Kott will represent Stonehill on the North All-Star team along with 16 other Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes that will compete against the South All-Star team comprised of 19 seniors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The game will be played at Kentner Stadium on the Wake Forest campus on the off day between the Division I semifinals and finals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Ladino earned All-Northeast-10 honors for the third-straight year this fall after posting 12 goals (7th NE-10) and five assists for 29 points (8th) in her senior season and was named to the All-NE-10 first team while also earning All-Tournament team honors at both the NE-10 and NCAA Division II Championships.
Ladino capped her All-America career ranked second in program history with 35 career assists, third with 97 points and fourth with 31 career goals in 84 career games played.
Kott was named the Northeast-10's Defensive Player of the Year this fall after spearheading a defensive unit which led the NE-10 and ranked third in Division II with a 1.13 team goals against average with a Conference-best six shutouts this season. She also led the Skyhawks with nine assists (3rd NE-10) and added two defensive saves. The first team All-Conference performer was also named to the All-Tournament teams at both the NE-10 and NCAA Division II Championships.
Kott started 79 of the 84 games she appeared in over her Stonehill career and is a two-time ZAG/NFHCA National Academic Squad member. In addition to being a part of a Skyhawks defense that has finished no lower than third in team GAA over her career, Kott dished 12 career assists.
Stonehill (17-4, 9-1 NE-10), ranked third in the final regular season Kookaburra/NFHCA Division II poll, captured its second Northeast-10 regular season championship this fall. The Skyhawks earned their third NCAA Tournament bid and were named the top seed in the North Region and served as host of the 2009 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships for the first time in program history. In addition to their second national semifinal appearance in program history, Stonehill was also NE-10 Tournament finalists this season as well.
