Four Skyhawks Named Second Team All-Academic

North Easton, Mass. - A quartet of Stonehill field hockey players were named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Second Team the conference office announced on Thursday evening.
Seniors Brittany Dibble (East Schodack, N.Y.), Ashley Freeman (White River Jct., Vt.) and Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) along with junior Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) were all selected to receive the academic honor.
Dibble was a second-team all-conference selection as a junior and started all 21 games in her senior season. She started 65 of the 80 games she appeared in during her career.
Freeman started all 21 games this season and had two assists, while helping anchor a stingy Skyhawk defense. As a sophomore, she had 12 assists, the second most in a single season in school history.
Ryder, a first team selection a year ago, had 14 wins as a senior and posted a school-record 19 victories as a sophomore. She added 29 career shutouts to her already impressive totals.
Sullivan, who was named the Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year in 2005, anchored a defense that posted seven shutouts and never yielded more than two goals in a NE-10 game. An excellent two-way player, Sullivan had three goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal in the Skyhawks dramatic 3-2 come from behind win over St. Michael's.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
