January 17, 1998 - Stonehill Men's Basketball's 10-game winning streak was snapped by Bentley College in an 83-79 loss.  In defeat however, Shaun Fein claimed the College's record after connecting on nine 3-pointers. 


Kaloyanides Named McGowan Scholar

Quarterback Jon Kaloyanides was named Stonehill’s 2008-2009 McGowan Scholar and was awarded a tuition scholarship from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund it has been announced. Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Fund was established to realize – and to enlarge – the potentials that McGowan foresaw in the future of the young. The McGowan Scholars program provides selected colleges and universities with scholarships to help students who wish to pursue a business education. The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund was named after the man who founded MCI Communications Corporation in 1968.
Skyhawks Announce 2008 Schedule

Year two of the Robert Talley era will begin under the lights at home with a Friday night tilt against Wagner on September 5th it has been announced by the Stonehill Department of Athletics. The 10-game schedule features three Friday night contests, including a September 19th meeting with Southern Connecticut. The following week, the Skyhawks play on Friday night as well, this time on the road at Bentley. After being picked ninth in the preseason coaches' poll, Stonehill finished Talley's first season at 5-5, and in sole possession of fifth place in the Northeast-10 standings. In 2008, Stonehill returns several key players, including All-Conference honoree Jared Zanello, quarterback Cruz Parsons, and running back Jeffery Payne.

With their resurgent 5-5 season a distant memory, second year head coach Robert Talley and his Stonehill charges return to the field for the annual spring game, which culminates the 14 practices that makeup spring workouts. The Skyhawks return a wealth of talent from the 2007 edition, including running back Jeffery Payne, who ran for a career-high 162 yards in last season’s finale. Payne, who accounted for eight touchdowns, led Stonehill with 1,037 all-purpose yards. The Purple and White spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at 3 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium.
