Purple Vs. White: Spring Game On Saturday
3/31/08 With their resurgent 5-5 season a distant memory, second year head coach Robert Talley and his Stonehill charges return to the field for the annual spring game, which culminates the 14 practices that makeup spring workouts. The Skyhawks return a wealth of talent from the 2007 edition, including running back Jeffery Payne, who ran for a career-high 162 yards in last seasons finale. Payne, who accounted for eight touchdowns, led Stonehill with 1,037 all-purpose yards. The Purple and White spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at 3 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium. |

DeBye Named ECAC Division II All-Star
1/8/08 Senior co-captain Mike DeBye has been named a Division II All-Star it was announced on Tuesday by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC). DeBye, who was named to the Northeast-10 first-team as well, led the Skyhawks with 67 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss in just eight games. His season started out in impressive fashion as he made an interception on the goal line in the waning seconds to preserve a 20-14 season-opening win over Assumption. Stonehill, which completed its first season under head coach Robert Talley, showed marked improvement, increasing its record from 1-9 in 2006, to 5-5 in 2007. |

Newton Tab: Vachon Prepped For Success
12/5/07 Ed Vachon is nothing if not versatile. So if the team has a need, he's the man generally called upon to fill it. During his two seasons as a starter on the Newton North football team, Vachon played tight end, wingback, wide receiver and safety in addition to occasionally returning punts and kickoffs. Operating mostly out of the slot as a Wes Welker-type in his senior year, after which he earned a Daily News Tribune All-Star nod, Vachon served as the possession receiver for the Tigers' group of talented skill position players, finishing the season with 460 yards and three touchdowns for the 2005 Division 1A Super Bowl finalists. |
