Skyhawks Head To Manchester In Search Of Third Win

Chris Palmer has 13 catches for 246 yards in his last three games, including several spectacular grabs.

Skyhawks Head To Manchester In Search Of Third Win
Heading into a matchup against a team they have defeated three straight times, the Skyhawks (2-6, 1-5 Northeast-10) defense - ranked third in the Northeast-10 in points allowed - hope to be able to contain a St. Anselm offense that leads the conference in rushing (221.0) yards per game. The Hawks, however, average a league-low 14.4 points an outing and yield 236 yards per game on the ground. That prescription could be the remedy for a Stonehill offense that ran for 344 yards against St. Anselm a season ago but has had only 100-yard rushing performance this season. The Skyhawks have excelled in the passing game on the road, with seven of Cruz Parsons' 11 scoring strikes and all three of Chris Palmer's touchdowns having come away from W.B. Mason Stadium.

Where We Stand
Stonehill hits the road for the final road contest of the season when they travel to Manchester, N.H. for a meeting with St. Anselm, a team they have defeated three times in a row.

Three Times A Lady
In Stonehill's three straight wins over St. Anselm, the Skyhawks have outscored their opponent, 121-23.

You Remember Me
Cruz Parsons (Signal Hill, Calif.) set a school-record with six touchdown passes in a 41-6 win over St. Anselm in 2005.

Welcome Home
The marks a homecoming for former Manchester area prep stars Cory Wright (Hooksett) and senior Kevin Bonnett (Manchester). Bonnett starred at Memorial, while Wright was a member of Central's three-straight Division I title teams.

Century Club
In their eight games this season, St. Anselm has allowed five rushers to top the 100-yard mark, including three of whom who rushed for 150 yards or more.

Twenty-Twenty Vision
Should the Skyhawks (19.6 ppg) end the season at 20 points per game or more, it would mark the first time that has occurred since the 2000 team scored 22.2 points an outing.

Parsons' Production
Cruz Parsons' career is winding down and despite missing nine games in his sophomore season, he has established himself as one of the program's all-time bests. His 1,415 yards this season is the seventh best in a season in school history. He needs only 440 yards in the final two games to set a new school mark. The 3,487 yards he has passed for in his career are the third most in school annals.

Rush To Judgment
St. Anselm is last in the Northeast-10 in scoring offense (14.4) and scoring defense (33.4), having scored 17 touchdowns and allowed 31.  The Hawks, however, boast the conference's top rushing offense at 221 yards per game.

Coming Up  Empty
In 18 games under Rob Talley, Stonehill has failed to force a turnover on two occasions - a 35-10 season-ending loss to American International last year and last week's 21-16 loss to Merrimack.

A Season Ago
In last year's meeting, both Eddie Vachon (Newton, Mass.) (142) and Jeff Payne (West Haven, Conn.) (152) topped the 100-yard mark in a 56-7 home win.

So Close
Stonehill's 56 points a season ago against the Hawks fell one point shy of the school-record for points in a game set in 1994 in a 57-20 win over MIT.

Spare The Gorey Details
Junior placekicker Brendan Gorey (West Islip, N.Y.) connected on a career-long 44-yard field goal and had a career-long punt of 54 yards in the loss to Merrimack.

He's No Grouch
Freshman wide receiver Oscar Alvarez (Framingham, Mass.) made his first collegiate catch and drew a pass interference penalty in the endzone in the loss to Merrimack.

Baker's Dozen
Of Stonehill's six losses, four have come by a combined 13 points, including a 35-34 overtime loss to Iona.

Spreading The Wealth
Cruz Parsons' 11 touchdowns have gone to six different receivers. Both David Pringle (West Haven, Conn.) and Chris Palmer (Santa Barbara, Calif.) have a team-leading three scoring grabs.

Too Good To Be True
Defensive back Steven Good (Green Harbor, Mass.) had a career-high eight tackles in the loss to Merrimack. Of his 21 tackles this season, 14 have been of the solo variety.

First And 15
In 15 career games, David Pringle has 40 catches for 787 yards and seven touchdowns.
