Welcome Home
After a three-game road trip, Stonehill returns home for
the first time since early September for a meeting with
Assumption.
Now That We Are Here
Stonehill will play three of its next four games at the
friendly confines of W.B. Mason Stadium, a place they have gone 4-3
under head coach Rob Talley.
Only One Better
Freshman Stephan Neville (Foxborough, Mass.) ranks
second in the country in kickoff return average at 35.7. Only
Richard Medlin of Fayetteville State averages more per return
(38.5). In last week's loss at American International, Neville had
returns of 31, 47 and 65 yards respectively.
Easy Money
Sophomore Eddie Vachon (Newton, Mass.)
racked up 172 all-purpose yards in the loss at American
International last week. He had three catches for a career-high 95
yards, added 34 on the ground, 10 in punt returns and 33 in kickoff
return yards, marking the fourth time this season he has gone over
the century mark in all-purpose yardage.
Everywhere You Need Him To Be
Senior linebacker Greg Sanzari
(Centerport, N.Y.) is eighth in the nation in tackles per game at
11.1 an outing. He has totaled double figure tackles in four of the
six contests thus far this season, including two games where he has
registered 15.
A Season Ago
Stonehill has won three of the last four meetings with the
Greyhounds, including last season's 20-14 win in Worcester. In that
contest, Eddie Vachon ran for 76 yards and a score
and Cruz Parsons (Signal Hill, Calif.) and
David Pringle (west Haven, Conn.) connected for a
44-yard touchdown in Robert Talley's first win as head coach.
When Clinton Was In Office
Cruz Parsons threw for 312 yards in a loss at Iona and 216
in last week's loss at American International, marking the first
time a Stonehill quarterback has thrown for more than 200 yards in
consecutive games since 1994.
Head And Shoulders
Stonehill is first in the Northeast-10 in turnover margin
at +5. In its two years under head coach Rob Talley, the Skyhawks
are +21, while the next closest Northeast-10 team, Pace, is +3.
Turnovers Tell The Story
In their only win this season, Stonehill didn't commit any
turnovers. They have seven in the five games since - all losses.
Punts Away
With the combination of junior Brendan
Gorey (West Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Chris
Rooney (Quincy, Mass.) leading the way, Stonehill ranks
first in the Northeast-10 in punting average at 35.6.
Sophomore Slump?
After making 10 catches out of the backfield a season ago,
Eddie Vachon has already surpassed that total so
far this season. In just six games, he has 11 catches for 219 yards
- good for a team-high average of 19.9 yards.
Palmer Plays Big
Senior Chris Palmer (Santa Barbara,
Calif.) had several huge catches in the loss to American
International. One of his better catches came on 3rd and 22, when
he hauled in a 32 yard strike from Parsons. He finished the day
with six catches for 76 yards.
Red Zone Redux
After going 18 for 21 in red zone chances a season ago,
the Skyhawks have gone just 11 for 19 this season, including being
stopped on downs six times.
Incidental Yardage
Stonehill holds a huge advantage against its opponents in
interception and fumble return yardage. Keyed by Michael
Greene's (Plainview, N.Y.) 91 yard fumble return for a
touchdown against Southern Connecticut, the Skyhawks have a 191-1
edge over its opponents.
