SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.-- The Stonehill equestrian season came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as the Skyhawks placed third among four teams competing at the 2007 IHSA Zone 1 Championships held on the campus of Mount Holyoke. The host Lyons took high point champion honors in the event and advanced along with Brown to next month's IHSA National Championships that will be held in Springfield, Mass.
Freshman Kelli-Ann Monroe (Swanzey, N.H.) was crowned as zone champion in the novice flat for Stonehill, which also received third place individual performances from senior Heather Marban (Ridgefield, Conn.) in the intermediate flat and sophomore Becca Clifford (Rehoboth, Mass.) in the novice fences, respectively.
The Skyhawks captured their second IHSA regional championship in Head Coach Sara DelVecchio's three-year tenure last weekend.
