Skyhawks Postseason Hopes Dashed
5/5/08 With their postseason hopes on the line, Stonehill split a pair of games at UMass-Lowell when it needed a sweep and the Skyhawks see their season come to an end following a 7-3 win and a 3-1loss on Monday afternoon at LeLacheur Park. The Skyhawks wrap up the 2008 campaign with a 25-22 overall record and a 16-14 mark in the Northeast-10. The River Hawks, who secured their spot in the Northeast-10 Tournament with the win, move to 26-23 and 18-12 in Conference action. |

5/3/08 Behind a complete game, four-hit performance from senior Nick SantaBarbara, Stonehill took the first game of a crucial three game set with visiting UMass-Lowell, 4-2 on Saturday afternoon on Lou Gorman Field. Because Bentley rallied to defeat Southern New Hampshire earlier in the day, only one Northeast-10 postseason playoff spot remains available. Stonehill needs to win its final two games in order to advance to postseason play, while a win by UMass-Lowell in either of the games scheduled for Sunday would eliminate the Skyhawks and the River Hawks would earn the final spot. |

Fuller’s 19 K’s Deals Big Blow To Skyhawks
5/1/08 Behind sophomore hurler Jim Fuller’s 19 strikeouts, Southern Connecticut won their school-record 14th game in a row and in the process dealt a serious blow to Stonehill’s postseason playoff hopes with an 11-0 win on Thursday afternoon at the The Ballpark at SCSU. The loss for Stonehill drops them to 14-13 in Northeast-10 action, a half of a game behind Bentley for the sixth and final spot in the Conference postseason tournament. Stonehill still has three games left in NE-10 play, all against fifth place UMass-Lowell, while the Falcons play two more contests versus last place Southern New Hampshire. The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday for their final home game of the season – a 3 p.m. tilt with the River Hawks on Lou Gorman Field. |
