April 27, 1986 - Sophomores Naren Dhamodharen and David Schreiner claimed the Men's tennis first doubles crown at the Northeast-8 Championship.  The Stonehill pair defeated Springfield 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.  The Stonehill Men's Tennis team finished the season 5-9 but earned fourth place at the tournament.

WOMEN'S TENNIS:STONEHILL 9, ST. FRANCIS (ILL.) 0

The Skyhawks improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 9-0 non-league dual-match sweep of St. Francis (Ill.) in Orlando, Fla. Seniors Jennifer Arcabascio (Salem, N.H.), Ashley Todd (Weymouth, Mass.) and Anna Walsh (Dennis, Mass.) were all winners in singles and doubles play on the day for Stonehill, which opened the 2006 season on Sunday with a 9-0 non-league sweep of Kings (Pa.). The Skyhawks take on Grand Valley State (Mich.) in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon.

SOFTBALL:STONEHILL 4, C.W. POST 3; STONEHILL 5, BELLARMINE 2

The Skyhawks (2-4) got their first win of the season in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla. over C.W. Post, as Stonehill trailed 3-1 heading into its final at-bat but tied the game on a two-run homer off the bat of senior Christine Grenache (Leominster, Mass.) and won an a two-out RBI single off the bat of sophomore Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.). The Skyhawks, who posted a late 5-2 triumph over Bellarmine on Monday evening, return to action at the Rebel Spring Games on Wednesday in taking on SIU-Edwardsville and Ferris State.

BASEBALL:ASHLAND 18, STONEHILL 6

At the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., the Skyhawks (2-4) got on the board in the top the first with a run, but the Eagles (7-2) answered with nine runs in the bottom of the frame. Junior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) belted a three-run homer in the setback for Stonehill, which also received solo shots off the bats of senior Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and sophomore David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.). Stonehill returns to action on Wednesday afternoon by taking on Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) at 4:00 p.m.

MEN'S TENNIS:UCONN 7, STONEHILL 1

Senior Mike Pelaggi (Dedham, Mass.) and sophomore John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass.) accounted for the lone Skyhawk point of the day, as Stonehill (4-1) suffered its first setback of the season in falling to the Division I Huskies in Hilton Head, S.C. The Skyhawks continue play in Hilton Head Tuesday morning by facing Northern Kentucky.
