Stonehill Ranked No. 6 In NFHCA Preseason Poll

Easton, Mass. ? The Stonehill field hockey team will open its 2007 season ranked sixth in the preseason NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) poll released on Tuesday.
Defending NCAA champion Bloomsburg, received nine first-place and had 108 overall points to earn the No. 1 spot in the annual poll. They were followed by UMass-Lowell who racked up 88 points, but not first-place votes. Another Northeast-10 school, Bentley, opens the season at No. 3 after garnering 85 points and two first-place votes.
The Skyhawks return a bevy of talent and scoring to a squad that went 17-5, won its first-ever Northeast-10 regular season crown and made a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Stonehill opens its 2007 season on Sat., August 25 at East Stroudsburg and has its first home game on Sat., September 1 against the RiverHawks.
