Stonehill Gives Primary Logo a Facelift

New primary athletics logo

New secondary mark

“Ace” will also receive makeover for open of 2012-13 season

EASTON, Mass. (July 25, 2012) – Stonehill College is pleased to announce a redesign of its primary athletics logo. The logo redesign was conducted in an effort to create a more modern “Ace,” the official mascot of the College, and will include a full mascot makeover at the beginning of the 2012-13 academic year.

The new primary logo was designed by Phoenix Design Works, from Maplewood, N.J., who created the original Stonehill athletics branding when the Skyhawks nickname was unveiled in 2005. Phoenix Design Works worked with an on-campus committee that included representation from current student-athletes, coaches and athletics and college administrators. The goal was to improve the “Ace” mascot into a more “fierce” and “modern” look that would be more embraced by the Stonehill community than the original version. All other entities of the Stonehill athletics markings remain the same.

“This is an exciting day for Skyhawk athletics,” said Brendan J. Sullivan, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the College. “Our tradition of excellence at Stonehill continues to grow and develop every season, and our Skyhawk identity evolves with it. We are thrilled with our newest logo and feel that it is a great representation of our athletic tradition and I would like to thank those involved with making this new logo a reality.”

In addition to the new logo, “Ace” is undergoing a makeover this summer and is expected to be unveiled at the start of the academic year. Details for the debut of the new “Ace” will be announced at a later date.

Stonehill earned its third-straight Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup Trophy for the 2011-12 academic year. Stonehill has been recognized for its academic performance with regard to graduation rate by earning a 98-percent Academic Success Rating (ASR) for the second-straight year as released by the NCAA receiving an inaugural Presidents’ Award for Academic Achievement from the NCAA. Stonehill is ranked second in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs for the second-straight year.
