May 4, 2006 - Senior Kalyn Healey, who helped Stonehill Equestrian capture the IHSA Collegiate Cup National Championship as a freshman in 2003, finished third in the individual open fences at the 2006 IHSA National Championship.  Healey's finish at the National Championships matched the highest for Stonehill individual.

Gorey, Cottam Named Executives In Stonehill SAAC

Easton, Mass. - Student-athletes Brendan Gorey (West Islip, N.Y.) and Rebecca Cottam (Belmont, Mass.) have been named Chair and Vice Chair of the 2008-09 Stonehill College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) it was announced recently by the College's athletic administration.

The SAAC is a committee made up of student -athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. It also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athlete's lives on NCAA member institutions campuses.

Presently, there are separate national SAAC's for NCAA Division I, II, and III. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their respective campuses.

Gorey, a junior member of the Skyhawks' football team will serve as Chair, while Cottam, a senior on the lacrosse team, will fill the role of Vice Chair.

"I am so excited to be working with Brendan, because I can tell we see eye-to-eye on a lot of things and together we can come up with some great ideas," said Cottam.

Senior Associate Athletic Director Cindy MacDonald will serve as the group's advisor and oversee the committee's monthly meetings and recognizing opportunities for the group to take part in.

"These individuals understand the true embodiment of being a student-athlete and will do wonderful work on campus for their fellow student-athletes and in their community to help enhance the Stonehill experience," said Mac Donald.

The 2008-09 roster is as follows Sabrina Cataldo (Women's Soccer), Rebecca Clifford (Equestrian), Samantha Dircks (Women's Tennis), Daniel Edwards (Men's Track & Field), Lindsey Herchel (Women's Tennis), Will Herchel (Men's Tennis), Ashley Langlois (Softball), Ashley March (Field Hockey), Samantha Marcin (Volleyball), Dave Migani (Baseball), Billy Ninteau (Ice Hockey), Jackie Oates (Women's Cross Country), Stephanie Pintal (Women's Basketball), Victor Regis (Men's Soccer), Matt Rigby (Men's Cross Country), Colin Scanlon (Men's Basketball) and Jenn Stanwick (Women's Soccer).

"I was always involved in facilitating groups and making events happen in high school," continued Cottam.  "SAAC is the perfect committee to continue this part of my life."
