Athletic Development
Mission
Stonehill College seeks to engage its athletic alumni in order to create a permanent link between those that created the rich tradition of Stonehill athletics and those that challenge themselves daily to ensure its continuous prosperity. Through an array of events; including alumni games, golf outings, and fundraising endeavors; the Department of Athletics strives to reunite alumni with the College to relive the glory of their athletic past and learn of the impressive academic and athletic accomplishments of their present-day successors.
In addition to linking generations of alumni, the development initiative of the Department of Athletics is charged with the responsibility of graciously seeking donations from those that care about Stonehill athletics to ensure it's long-lasting stability and prosperity. Unfortunately, excessive spending now permeates collegiate athletics and threatens to obscure the original intent of intercollegiate athletic competition. Stonehill College recognizes the importance of intercollegiate athletics and provides, to the best of its ability, the resources necessary to compete at the Division II level. The intent of this Department is to assist the College in providing those resources, which will enhance the competitive experience of all our student-athletes.

What Athletic Development Means to the Athletics Department and the College
Finally, a word from Director of Athletics Paula Sullivan on the importance of the on-going presence of our alumni in our programs and also the need to find additional resources to support the increasingly impressive athletic endeavors of our student-athletes;
"Stonehill College strives to sponsor an athletics program that provides our student-athletes with opportunities to compete at the highest level while maintaining the knowledge that athletics exists to compliment the College's overall academic, spiritual, and service-oriented mission. To assist in the execution of that mission, our department makes continuous efforts to find additional resources to ensure our student-athletes enjoy a well-rounded competitive experience. An experience that is vital because it instills through practice and competition the mental fortitude and moral conscious a student-athlete needs to become successful members of their respective professional fields".
"We annually reach our goal of finding additional financial resources because of the loyal support of our alumni and supporters. We turn to those that formed and strengthened the tradition of Stonehill Athletics and ask them to assist in preserving that very tradition's prosperity. Filled with memories of their athletic accomplishments here at Stonehill, our alumni are enthused to help our current student-athletes. They hope that in the future those now wearing the purple and white of Stonehill will recognize the importance of their competitive experiences as a Skyhawk, and pay it forward to the next generation of student-athletes and thus continue the great Stonehill athletic tradition. Without our alumni, Stonehill Athletics would not be the tradition rich program it is today and for that, on behalf of the College, I thank them."
