March 31, 2007 - The Skyhawks captured their second IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championship in three years under Head Coach Sara DelVecchio after claiming High Point Champions at the Bridgewater State Intercollegiate Horse Show.  Stonehill received first-place finishes from sophomores Jamie Marsalise, Becca Clifford, and Naomi Crilley.

While it's a shame they don't play football at Boston University, one former Terriers co-captain is doing his best to leave his mark on the game. Robert Talley, the new head coach at Stonehill (1-0) watched his Skyhawks beat Assumption (0-2), 20-14, Friday night to earn his first victory.

"It was very exciting. A nice way to start off," said Talley, an all-conference selection at two positions - linebacker and defensive back - during his time with the Terriers (1987-90) who finished up as the program's career leader in tackles with 423. "It went well. We kind of withstood some things early and the defense stuck in there. Then, the offense was able to get going and run the ball exactly like we wanted to do and took control of the game in the second quarter.

"(Assumption is) a veteran team and kept their composure and made a run at us. They tried a surprise onside kick and we recovered and went into the end zone two plays later."

Stonehill standouts included senior linebacker Mike DeBye of Burlington (pass breakup, interception), freshman running back Eddie Vachon of Newton, junior quarterback Cruz Parsons, junior cornerback Jared Zanello of Walpole (two interceptions) and junior fullback Bobby Holland of North Andover.
