Gross is helping Stonehill to NCAAs

The Stonehill College women's lacrosse team captured the Northeast-10 Championship on Sunday and is going to the NCAA Division II Tournament. And, a key performer for the Skyhawks has been freshman Liza Gross of Loudonville (Shaker High).
Gross, a 5-foot-10 midfielder, had two goals and two assists in Stonehill's 9-7 victory over Bentley College in Sunday's title game. She had four goals and an assist in an 18-7 victory over Merrimack in the semifinals.
On the season, Gross has 41 goals and 19 assists for 60 points.
The Skyhawks (18-1) are ranked second in Division II. They face C. W. Post (15-0) in the semifinals Saturday in Salem, Va. The title game is noon Sunday. Post edged Stonehill 7-5 in the regular season. Gross scored three goals in that game.
