EASTON, Mass. (June 15, 2017) – Stonehill College finished up the 2016-17 academic year with a second place finish in the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings, which recognizes overall athletic success in the Conference over the course of the entire year.

It marks the 13th straight year Stonehill has finished in the top three of the final NE10 Presidents' Cup standings as the Skyhawks totaled 174 points, finishing behind only Adelphi University, which captured its second straight Presidents' Cup with 187.5 points. Stonehill and Adelphi have combined to win the last eight NE10 Presidents' Cups, with the Skyhawks winning three straight from 2009-2012 as well the 2014-15 academic year. Stonehill finished three points in front of third place Merrimack College (171 points), with Assumption College (166 points) and Le Moyne College (162) rounding out the top five.

In addition to its 13 straight top three finishes, Stonehill has won the NE10 Presidents' Cup five times, following the 2005-06, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2014-15 academic years. The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the NE10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships. Points for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's golf are awarded based on placement in those sports' respective conference championships.

Stonehill captured five NE10 Championships over the course of the year, with first place points coming from its NE10 champion women's tennis program as well as the women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field titles. The women's soccer team captured its first NE10 Tournament Championship since 1995 after posting a fourth place finish during the regular season. 13 of Stonehill's 19 NE10 programs reached the postseason, with seven earning NCAA Tournament bids.

With 21 intercollegiate sports, after announcing the addition of women's golf for the 2017-18 academic year, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country.
