Bruno, named Championship MVP, hit .333 (5-for-15) as Stonehill posted a perfect 4-0 record at the tournament with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and six RBI. The next day, at the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships, Hill led the way for Stonehill by qualifying for the Zone 1 Championships in two events. She qualified first for novice fences with a first place finish, before placing second in intermediate fences to qualify for that event. She placed first for open flat and third in open fences. Traendly became Stonehill's most recent regional qualifier, doing so in the flat.

It's repetitive, but it was another tough call for Ace. However, he has named junior Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan Area) from the Northeast-10 Conference runner-up women's indoor track & field team as Stonehill's Student-Athlete of the Week. Pinkham captured a pair of championships at Thursday's NE-10 meet to help lead the Skyhawks to a second-place finish. Pinkham the 800-meter title with an NE-10 Championships record time of 2:17.64, qualifying for next week's New England Championships. Pinkham also ran a leg in Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay team which captured the NE-10 Championship with a time of 9:48.43. In addition to being an Indoor Track NE-10 Champion, Pinkham was an All-NE-10 performer on the field hockey pitch this past fall for the regular season champion Skyhawks.
Week Ending February 14, 2010
A tough week of choices for Ace, but he has narrowed in on junior captain Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn./Newington) from the No. 25-ranked men's indoor track & field team as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the week. Pilz provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., next month in the mile run. Week Ending February 7, 2010
First off... Ace apologizes for being late with his selection this week. With news of yesterday's impeding "blizzard", he got tied up at the local grocery store stocking up on essentials! Without further delay, he has named sophomore Pak Lul (Portland, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) from the men's indoor track & field team as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week. He led the Skyhawks at Saturday's Tufts Stampede by posting a first place finish, out of 30 runners, in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.88. Week Ending January 31, 2010
Ace knew what he was talking about when he correctly predicted fans would be hearing his name often last week. Ace has again named freshman Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week after another record-setting performance at the Reebok Boston Collegiate Indoor Games on Friday to become the first Skyhawk to earn the award in back-to-back weeks. Thomas became the first field athlete in Stonehill history to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships with his program-record and NCAA Division II Championship automatic qualifying jump of 7'1" (2.16m) - the highest leap in all of Division II so far this season. The jump bettered his previous school record set last weekend at the Wheaton Invitational of 6'9.48". Thomas also bettered his school-record and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time in the 55-meter high hurdles with his time of 7.66-seconds in the preliminaries. He would later finish third in the final with a time of 7.74. Thomas was also a part of Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay team that finished ninth with a time of 3:33.34.
Week Ending January 24, 2010
Get used to hearing this name over the next four years, because while it's his first athlete of the week award... it won't be his last. Ace has named freshman Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Skyhawks to a third place finish at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday with a pair of school-record and NCAA qualifying performances. Thomas started the day by winning the high jump with a school-record jump of 2.07-meters (6'9.48") to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., in March . The leap bettered the previous school record of 6'8" set by teammate Joe D'Agostino last season and matched by Thomas at the season-opening Jay Carisella Invitational in December. Thomas bettered his previous provisional qualifying time in the 55-meter high hurdles with a winning time of 7.67-seconds in the final. He broke his own school record of 7.69 seconds he set in his collegiate debut on December 5.
Week Ending January 17, 2010
It was another 2-0 week for both the men's and women's basketball teams last week, but like last week, one individual's performance shined just above the rest. Ace has named junior guard Emily Rousseau (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) from the women's basketball team as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week. Rousseau averaged 22.5 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in the Skyhawks two wins last week. She made 60-percent (15-of-25) of her shots from the field, including 4-for-8 (50%) from three-point range, while converting 11-of-14 (78.6%) free-throw attempts for the week. Rousseau matched her career-high with 27 points (17 second half) on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including 2-for-4 from three-point range, to go with four rebounds and five assists in Saturday's win over New Haven. She led the Skyhawks past Assumption with 18 points (12 second half) as she connected on 2-of-4 three-pointers and converted all six free-throw attempts to go with four rebounds and three assists.
Week Ending January 10, 2010
While just men's and women's basketball continues to carry the Skyhawks banner through the mid-year break, Ace's choice for his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week wasn't without much debate yet again with both teams posting 2-0 weeks. However, the numbers were just too good to overlook as senior forward A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) is the choice for the second time this season after averaging a double-double for the Northeast-10 Conference-leading men's basketball team. Rudowitz averaged 21.5 points, ten rebounds, 1.5 blocked shots and 1.5 steals for the week, while shooting 58.1-percent (18-for-31) from the field, including 1-for-2 from three-point range. He posted a double-double of 21 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go with three blocks, two assists and a steal in Saturday's win over Pace, after collecting 22 points, seven rebounds and two steals in Wednesday's win at Southern Connecticut State.
Week Ending January 3, 2010
Happy New Year! Ace has returned
from a two-week hiatus while the Stonehill teams themselves enjoyed
a bit of a holiday break. He has named junior guard Kristen
McWhirter (Melvin Village, N.Y./New Hampton Prep) from the
women's basketball team as his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the
Week. McWhirter led the Skyhawks to a 2-0 week as she averaged 20
points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals over the two
contests. She matched her career-high with 21 points in Monday's

Diozzi scored five of Stonehill's six goals in a 2-0-0 week, extending the Skyhawks winning streak to five. He posted five goals, including a shorthanded goal, power-play goal and game-winner for the week as Stonehill played on back-to-back nights. Diozzi netted his first career hat trick to lead Stonehill to a 4-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Tuesday - snapping a 41-game skid against the Corsairs. He opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and then iced the win with two third period tallies. Diozzi scored both Skyhawk goals in a 1:38 span in the second period of Wednesday's 2-1 triumph at Salve Regina University, potting the gamewinner on the power-play. Diozzi also earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors today.
Week Ending December 6, 2009
Ace sounds like a broken record, but it was yet another tough week in chosing his Stonehill Student-Athlete of the Week. However, the edge goes to sophomore goaltender Tyler Jackson (Little Silver, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) after leading the ice hockey team to a pair of wins last week, setting a school-record in the process. Jackson, who has earned NE-10 Goaltender of the Week honors each of the last two weeks, posted a 1.00 goals against average and .963 save percentage while averaging 26 saves per game with one shutout for the week. Jackson stopped all 20 shots on goal he faced to claim his program-record second straight shutout in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Worcester State College. He added 32 saves, including 17 in the third period alone, in Saturday's 3-2 NE-10 win at Southern New Hampshire University. Jackson extended his program record shutout streak to 149:07 before it was halted early in the second period of Saturday's win at SNHU.
Week Ending November 29, 2009
Another tough week with three or four quality choices sees Ace name senior forward A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) as Stonehill's Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the men's basketball team to a pair of wins to open their Northeast-10 schedule. Rudowitz, who also earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career on Monday, averaged a double-double in leading Stonehill to a pair of wins to open its Northeast-10 schedule last week. He averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and a steal in 30.5 minutes per game over the Skyhawks two contests. Week Ending November 22, 2009
She was Ace's first repeat honoree of the year, and now she's the first three-time selection. But, what else would you expect from an All-American? Ace has named freshman Erin Carmone (Riverside, R.I./East Providence) as Stonehill's Student-Athlete of the Week after her All-America winning performance at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday. Carmone led the Skyhawks to a 16th-place finish as she completed the 6-kilometer course in 21:33.7 to place 23rd overall out of 184 individuals at the event. Ace has named freshman Jareed Gaines
(Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) from the football team
as Stonehill's "Student-Athlete of the Week." Gaines led a strong
defensive effort for the Skyhawks which held the NE-10's top

returned it 73-yards for a game-clinching touchdown with 33-seconds
to play. He also blocked a 35-yard field goal try in the fourth
quarter on Assumption's enquing drive after the Skyhawks had taken
a 15-14 lead.

Another tough week with numerous worthy candidates, but
Ace has named freshman Erin Carmone (Riverside,
R.I./East Providence) from the Northeast-10
Champion women's cross country team as Stonehill's
"Student-Athlete of the Week." Carmone led the Skyhawks to their
eighth NE-10 Championship on Sunday with a second-place finish
overall as she completed the 5K course in 18:23.2. She was one of
six All-Conference performers for Stonehill, who won both the men's
and women's team titles for the fourth time. Carmone was the top
freshman performer at the event.

(Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) from the women's
soccer team as Stonehill's "Student-Athlete of the Week." Mahoney
has led Stonehill right back into the thick of the Northeast-10
playoff race as she totaled two goals and three assists for seven
points over a pair of Skyhawk victories last week. She posted a
goal and assist in Wednesday's 5-0 triumph over Bentley, then
notched a goal and two assists to lead the Skyhawks past Pace, 4-0,
on Saturday. Mahoney shares the NE-10 lead this season with her
team-leading seven assists, while adding five goals for 17 points

current four-game winning streak.

Ace recognizes not only last week's achievments, but the
milestone accomplished with senior Claire Hourihan (East
Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) from the field hockey
team's selection as Stonehill's "Student-Athlete of the Week." Both
of Hourihan's goals scored last week were gamewinners as the No.
5-ranked Skyhawks, ranked atop the first NCAA II North Region
rankings of the year, picked up a pair of wins. Her game-winning
goal 13 minutes into the second half Saturday's 2-1 win at Adelphi,
ranked fifth in the region, made her just the second player in
program history with 100 career points with 101. The goal was also
the 42nd of her career, moving into a tie for second all-time in
program history.
Week Ending September 27, 2009
Ace wants to recognize the team effort by the men's cross country team this week after its big win at the Pre-National Invitational, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana on Saturday. Junior Pat Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) led the Skyhawks who placed four runners in the top ten, all five scorers in the top 13 and all seven competitors in the top 25. Fullerton took fifth overall, while junior captain Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn./Newington) finished ten seconds behind in sixth. The Skyhawks top five runners all finished within a minute of each other. When a team dominates like the Skyhawks did on Saturday, Ace can't pick just one "Student-Athlete of the Week"!
Week Ending September 20, 2009

He led a Skyhawks contingent which claimed three of the top four positions and placed four in the top ten to claim the team crown.
Week Ending September 6, 2009
After much deliberation, Ace has named senior All-American Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) as Stonehill's "Student-Athlete of the Week" - narrowly edging out a handful of quality candidates as the athletic department enjoyed a perfect 8-0 week as well as strong showings from the cross country teams at their season-opening event. Ladino totaled 12 points with five goals and two assists as the 8th-ranked field hockey team posted a pair of wins last week. She recorded two goals and an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 triumph at 5th-ranked Bentley, before capping the week with her second career hat trick to go with an assist in Saturday's commanding 6-0 win over Franklin Pierce.
