Ace's Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Year: Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) earned the weekly honors seven times over the 2016-17 academic year with the cross country (once), indoor (once) and outdoor track & field (five) programs. Finishing second was men's basketball senior Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) with four weekly honors, with sophomore Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) finishing third with three awards.

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo earned All-New England honors for the third time in his career with his fifth place finish in the 5000-meter run at the New England Championships on Friday, breaking a ten-year-old school record with his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 14:35.53. The time ranks 43rd nationally in Division II this season and he surpasses the previous program record of 14:37.58 set by David Metzger '07 at the 2007 New England Championships at Dartmouth. Santo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the seventh time this year (eighth career) for his efforts.

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo captured a pair of individual event titles in leading Stonehill to a third place team finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday. He paced Stonehill's All-NE10 performers on day one by capturing his first NE10 individual title in the 10,000-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 30:41.83 to break both the program and W.B. Mason Stadium records for the event. He followed that up by completing the distance double for the first time in his career and posting a first place finish in the 5000-meter run. Santo broke away in the second half of the 5000m today, finishing in 14:46.90 – 16-seconds in front of the second place runner. Santo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the sixth time this year (seventh career) for his efforts.

Ace has named sophomore Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Vercollone led Stonehill to its ninth Skyhawk Invitational team title on Saturday with his first place finish in the 800-meter run in a school-record and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:51.65. In addition to provisionally qualifying for next month's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bradenton, Florida, with the 22nd-ranked time in Division II this season to date, Vercollone also broke the previous school mark of 1:51.78 set by former All-American Patrick Cooney '15 at the 2014 New England Championships. He also ran a leg on Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay that ran second in 3:28.79. Vercollone earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks, and third time this year and his careeer overall.

Ace has named freshman lefthanded pitcher Daniel Paul (Farmington, Connecticut/Avon Old Farms) from the baseball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Paul pitched the Skyhawks to wins over nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University and regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University in a 3-3 week overall. He was 2-0 with a 2.70 earned run average and five strikeouts in 13.1 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .143 average for the week. Paul pitched 5.1 innings in Monday's 8-5 victory over No. 6 SNHU, scattering three hits and allowing just two earned runs while striking out four. He followed that up with eight innings at Franklin Pierce on Saturday, allowing just two earns runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Paul earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named sophomore Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Vercollone led the Skyhawks to a second place team finish at Saturday's UMass Minuteman Invitational with a pair of first place finishes. He started with a first place finish in the 800-meter run, leading 21 entries with his personal-best time of 1:54.06. He also anchored Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay team which finished first out of six teams with a time of 3:23.86. Vercollone earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year and career.

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo Led the Skyhawks to a second place team finish at Saturday's Yellow Jacket Invitational at AIC by leading a Stonehill sweep of the top three positions in the 10,000-meter run with his first place finish in 31:37.28 to lap the field by 43-seconds. He earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the fifth time this year (sixth career).

Ace has named junior co-captain Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) from the men's tennis program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Bellio posted a combined 3-1 record in singles and doubles play in a 1-1 week for the Skyhawks. He won both of his matches at No. 1 singles, posting a three-set win over regionally-ranked Merrimack's #1 Mikhail Belov (7-5, 3-6, 11-9) and then leading Stonehill to a 5-4 win over region #7 Bentley with a two set win (6-4, 6-1) over Brendan McCarthy, the 20th-ranked singles player in the region by the ITA. Bellio split his two matches at No. 1 doubles with classmate Nikolay Lisichenok, recording an 8-4 win against Bentley's top pairing on Saturday. Bellio, who was also named the NE10 Player of the Week for his efforts, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this year (fourth career).

Ace has named senior Steve Lee (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) from the baseball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Lee led the Skyhawks to a split with No. 7-ranked Southern New Hampshire University in its NE10 opening series on Sunday as he hit a combined 3-for-8 (.375) with a home run and two RBI over the two games, playing error free in a combined seven chances at shortstop and third base. He delivered a walk-off two-run home run to lift Stonehill to a 3-2 win in game one, finishing 1-for-4, before hitting 2-for-4 with an RBI in the nightcap.

For the second-straight week, Ace has named sophomore Harrison Sabo (Wilton, Connecticut/Wilton) from the baseball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Sabo hit .348 (8-for-23) with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and five RBI over the Skyhawks eight games to wrap up its spring break trip to South Florida. He also stole a base and recorded a .565 slugging and .400 on-base percentage for the week. Sabo opened the week by hitting 2-for-4 with an RBI in game one of a doubleheader against regionally-ranked Wilmington. He hit 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, driving in the gamewinning run in the bottom of the ninth of a 3-2 win over Bloomfield. Sabo also drove in two runs against Adelphi. Sabo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career.

Ace has named sophomore Harrison Sabo (Wilton, Connecticut/Wilton) from the baseball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Sabo hit .429 (3-for-7) with a stolen base and run scored over two games for the Skyhawks to open their spring break trip to South Florida. He hit 1-for-3 in the spring break opener at Saint Thomas University and then followed that up by going 2-for-4 with a stolen base and run scored in a 3-2 extra innings win over Felician. Sabo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newpuryport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo led the Skyhawks to a seventh place team finish at the New England Championships in Boston over the weekend by capturing the New England title for the 5000-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying and personal-best time of 14:41.20, earning All-New England honors in the event for the second straight year. It marks the first individual New England title for Santo, who earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight week and fourth time this season overalll (fifth career).

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newpuryport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo earned All-NE10 honors for the second straight season and sixth time on his career overall at Saturday's NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, with his second place finish in the 5000-meter run in a season-best time of 14:59.10. He was among three All-Conference performers for the Skyhawks which finished fourth in the team standings. Santo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this year (fourth career).

Ace has named sophomore goaltender Billy Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits-EHL Premier) from the ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Palmer held a 3.05 goals against average as the Skyhawks split a pair of games. He posted his first career shutout with 31 saves in Saturday's 8-0 victory over NE10 rival Southern New Hampshire University. Palmer also recorded 38 stops in a tough 3-2 setback at UMass Dartmouth to open the week. Saturday's shutout is the program's first since the 2014-15 season and he finished the week with 69 combined saves and a 0.964 save percentage. Palmer, who was named the NE10 Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this winter (second career).

Ace has named senior Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) from the men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Logan averaged 25 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Skyhawks, shooting 48.7-percent from the field (19-for-39) and converting 10-of-13 (76.9%) free-throws for the week. He posted his tenth 20-point game of the season in Wednesday's 108-101 overtime win at Bentley with 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, while converting 7-of-8 free-throws to go with four rebounds, four assists and two steals. He posted his fourth double-double of the season against Franklin Pierce on Saturday as he netted a season-high 27 points and snared a game-high 11 rebounds. Logan earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time this season (13th career).

Ace has named senior Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the regionally-ranked track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo posted the best time in the Northeast-10 Conference this season and 20th-fastest in all of Division II this winter to date at Saturday's Tufts Stampede as he led a Stonehill sweep of the top three spots and five Skyhawks in the top ten overall in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:00.96 - adjusted to 14:51.41 for a flat track. Santo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time during the academic year (third career).

Ace has named freshman forward Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Massachusetts/Canterbury and Kents Hill) from the ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Cassidy helped lead the Skyhawks to a 1-1 week with a pair of goals. His power play goal in the second period gave Stonehill a 3-0 lead in the eventual 3-1 win over NE10 rival Assumption on Tuesday. Cassidy followed that up with a goal in Thursday's setback to UMass Dartmouth, which knotted the score at 1-1 in the first period. Cassidy, who earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season on Monday, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week accolades for the first time.

Ace has named freshman forward Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vermont/Springfield Pics) from the ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Wright scored a pair of goals over three games for the Skyhawks in a 1-1-1 week. His goal in a 4-4 deadlock at Wentworth on Tuesday leveled the game at three goals apiece in the third period. Wright wrapped up the week by potting the gamewinning goal 1:07 into overtime to lift Stonehill to a crucial 3-2 NE10 victory at Franklin Pierce on Saturday night. Wright, who also collected NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season on Monday, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time.

Ace has named senior forward Brian Higgins (Milton, Massachusetts/Proctor Academy) from the ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Higgins scored two third period goals to lift the Skyhawks to a 4-3 victory over Becker College on day two of the inaugural Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Both goals pushed Stonehill into the lead, the first coming 11:08 into third for a 3-2 lead before netting the gamewinner with 2:22 remaining in regulation as the Skyhawks ended a nine game winless streak. Higgins earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior preseason All-American Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Logan led the Skyhawks to a 2-0 week as he averaged 20 points per game on 62.5-percent shooting (15-for-24) from the field. He also contributed five rebounds and three assists per game, while connecting on 8-of-10 free-throws for the week. Logan cracked the top ten on the program's career scoring list, becoming just the eighth player in program history to surpass 1,500 career points along the way. He led Stonehill to an 87-83 win over regionally-ranked Bridgeport on Saturday with a season-high 26 points (10-13 FGs/2-4 3FG/4-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and a blocked shot. Logan opened the week with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists in Thursday's 87-78 win at Georgian Court. It marks the third time this season (12th career) he has earned Ace's Athlete of the Week honors.

Ace has named freshman forward Daniel Largey (Oceanport, New York/Peddie School) from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Largey matched a program-record with nine three-pointers, draining his first seven attempts for the night, for a game-high 29 points in the Skyhawks 83-71 win at Saint Rose in their lone game of the week. He finished shooting 9-for-11 from the field (all from three-point range) to go with four rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in the win. He scored 18 of his 29 points in the first half as he buried all six of his shots from the floor (all from three) to lead Stonehill to a 44-32 halftime lead. Largey earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Ace has named senior preseason All-American Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Logan averaged a double-double with 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Skyhawks. He also contributed 4.0 assists per game and shot 60-percent from the field (21-for-25) for the week. Logan posted his second double-double of the year in Wednesday's 81-68 win over #18/23 Southern N.H., with 21 points and 11 rebounds, adding five assists and a steal as he made 10-of-18 shots from the field. He led the Skyhawks to an 82-80 win over rival Bentley on Saturday with a season-high matching 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting, nine rebounds and three assists. Logan, who also earned Spalding/NE10 Player of the Week honors for his efforts, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season (11th career).

Ace has named sophomore Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Vercollone led 13 top five finishes at Saturday's season-opening UMass Boston Invitational with Stonehill's lone event win as he led a sweep of the top two places, with a pack of three Skyhawks in the top five and four in the top ten of the 1000-meter run, with a time of 2:35.69. Vercollone earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior forward Evan Jacques (Norton, Massachusetts/South Shore Kings) from the ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Jacques led the Skyhawks back from a pair of two goal deficits in their 3-3 tie at Suffolk in their lone game of the week with a goal and assist. He assisted on Stonehill first goal of the game, which pulled the Skyhawks back within 2-1 in the second period, and then potted the tying goal in the third period which resulted in the 3-3 deadlock. Jacques, who also earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors for his efforts, collects Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time.

Ace has named senior preseason All-American Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) of the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Logan averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 57.1-percent from the field (16-for-28) over two games for the Skyhawks last week. He dished out four assists per game and converted 10-of-12 (83.3%) of his free-throws for the week, posting season-highs with 24 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday's 97-86 win at Saint Anselm, adding six assists, while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor, making his lone three-pointer, and making 5-of-6 free-throws. Logan added 19 points (7-13 FGs, 5-6 FTs), eight rebounds, two assists and a steal against Assumption on Wednesday. Logan earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (tenth career).

Ace has named freshman forward Daniel Largey (Oceanport, New Jersey/Peddie School) of the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Largey had an impressive start to his collegiate career, leading the Skyhawks to a 2-0 start at the Assumption Tip-Off Classic this weekend as he averaged 21 points in 23 minutes per game off the bench, shooting 73.7-percent from the field (14-for-19), including an incredible 11-for-14 (78.6%) from three-point distance, while converting 3-of-4 (75%) free-throws for the weekend. He also contributed 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game for the week. Largey poured in a season-high 31 points, including 18 in the first half, on 10-of-14 shooting, including 8-for-10 from three-point range, in Saturday's 98-68 win over Queens, with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. He totaled 11 points on 4-5 shooting, including 3-4 from deep, in his collegiate debut in Friday's 78-68 win over Nyack with three rebounds and three steals. Largey, who was also named the Spalding NE-10 Rookie of the Week for his efforts, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week for the first time.

Ace has named sophomore Riley Dowd (Peabody, Massachusetts/Peabody Veterans Memorial) of the regionally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Dowd led the Skyhawks to their 14th straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships in two weeks with a tenth place finish at the NCAA East Regional at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in New Hampshire on Saturday. He led a pack of five All-Region performers for Stonehill as it turned in a second place team finish at the Regional with a tenth place finish in 32:06.9 over the ten-kilometer course to earn All-Region honors for the first time in his career. Dowd earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named sophomore defenseman Connor Collier (Madison, New Jersey/New Jersey Hitmen) defending Northeast-10 champion ice hockey  program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Collier tallied two goals and two assists for four points to lead the Skyhawks in a solid trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania, for the opening weekend of the season. His power play goal in the third period of Saturday night's 3-2 win over Lebanon Valley College knotted the score at 2-2 in the comeback win. Collier followed that up with a hand in all three Stonehill goals in Sunday afternoon's 3-3 tie with the Dutchmen, finishing with a goal and two assists. Collier earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named sophomore Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) of the regionally-ranked men's cross country  program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks to a runner-up finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, held at the College on Saturday, with his seventh place finish overall. He earned first team All-Northeast-10 honors for his efforts as he completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:36.3 to lead the team. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this fall - both coming within the last three weeks.

Ace has named freshman wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (West Yarmouth, Massachusetts/Dennis-Yarmouth) of the football  program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Jamiel led Stonehill to a 21-17 comeback win over the University of New Haven on Saturday night in a game streamed live by Watch ESPN and the ESPN app by breaking his own single-game program record with 18 receptions for a season-high 169 yards and two touchdowns. Jamiel's second touchdown grab was the game-winning score from ten yards out with 1:26 remaining to cap the Skyhawks rally from a 17-7 deficit after three quarters of play. Jamiel, who earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career, was also named the Northeast-10's Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week for his efforts.

Ace has named sophomore Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) from the regionally-ranked men's cross country  program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks to an 11th place team finish at the New England Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday. He led the team across the finish line with a career-best time of 25:22.3 over eight-kilometers for a 23rd place finish in the field of 219 runners across all NCAA Divisions. Taxter was second among Division II runners at the event. Taxter, who also earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors for his efforts, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week accolades for the first time.

Ace has named senior defensive end Vincent Burton (Randolph, Massachusetts/Blue Hills Regional) of the football program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Burton spearheaded a Skyhawks defensive effort which held Merrimack to just 151 total yards, just 108 after the opening possession which resulted in their lone score, with a career-high 2.5 sacks for a loss of ten yards, finishing with three tackles (two solo) for the afternoon. The Stonehill defense only gave up a touchdown on Merrimack's first possession, limiting them to 41 total yards in the first half – 43 of which came on the first possession – and 71 total yards through three quarters. Merrimack had just nine first downs, including two on the opening possession, three in the first half and five through three quarters. Burton earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named junior quarterback Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pennsylvania/The Hill School) of the football program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Foltz led Stonehill to a 45-34 victory at Saint Anselm College in the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" on Saturday with a school-record 448 yards of total offense. He completed 21-of-36 passes for a season-high 330 yards and five touchdowns, while adding seven carries for a career-best 118 yards on the ground. Foltz's 330 passing yards are the sixth-highest single-game total in program history and his five touchdown passes fell just one shy of the single game mark. He engineered a Stonehill offense which finished with 531 yards of total offense, marking the first time the Skyhawks have surpassed 500 total yards in three seasons. Foltz, who was also named the NE-10's Offensive Player of the Week, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week for the second time in hisc career.

Ace has named senior Antonio Xelhua (Arlington, Massachusetts/Arlington) from the nationally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Xelhua led the Skyhawks to a fifth place team finish in the College Division race (Divisions II & III) at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday. He completed the five mile course in 26:25.8 to place 16th among all Collegiate Division runners to lead Stonehill. Xelhua earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named junior forward James O'Shea (Quincy, Massachusetts/Quincy) from the men's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. O'Shea tallied a goal and assist for three points in the Skyhawk's 2-1 overtime victory at Nyack College in their lone match of the week. He assisted on the equalizing goal in the 71st minute, nine minutes after Nyack had forged a lead, and then potted the match-winner 1:48 into overtime to give Stonehill a 2-1 start to its season. O'Shea earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career with his efforts.

Ace welcomes a new academic year of honoring our outstanding student-athletes by naming senior captain Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) from the regionally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Santo earns the honors after leading the Skyhawks to the team title at Saturday's Stonehill Skyhawks NE-10 Preview Invitational with a third place finish overall. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:42 to finish third of 91 entries on Saturday as the Skyhawks won the team title by 31 points over second place Adelphi. Santo earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career after also collecting the honors following his first collegiate weekend as a freshman in 2013.
