Making It Rain...No Matter What
Women's Lax is taking off. As I'm on the bus ride home after a 22-2 victory over Assumption, I'm still trying to dry off from a torrential downpour on the Hound's field. We've had a lot of strange weather to play in, usually the rain, and a lot of long bus rides, but we're ready this year no matter what. Despite a difficult unexplainable loss to Dowling, things are going our way and we're fighting for it. The NE-10 is getting more and more competitive every year. However, we intend to stay on top. We are the team to beat and we like it that way. It brings an extra thrill to the game for all of us. Michelle Kelly, our co-captain, says, "As long as we keep playing as a team, we'll keep winning as a team. Our ultimate goal has yet to be reached and we won't stop till we get there."
SNHU has been our biggest game so far as we were playing for the number one spot in the NE-10. After a rainy ride up to New Hampshire, we let it rain on them. After a 7-4 half time score, we were ready drop the hammer. Justine came up in goal with an amazing 12 saves and stuffed SNHU.. The defense refused to let anyone in our house and it directly transferred down the whole field to light up the SNHU goalie. Senior Mary Maloney was unstoppable; the goalie couldn't even see the ball firing by her. Maloney quotes, "It is a great feeling when your team's hard work begins to pay off and when we really start meshing on both sides of the field."
While winning matters to all 24 tough, hardworking lacrosse players, it feels that much better when everyone is working together and playing well. This team is made up of best friends. We hang out together, we eat together, we live together, we go sledding together, get midnight taco bell together, and we even play jokes on our coaches together.

We thought we had our April Fools joke down...and we did get them good for a couple of minutes, until we remembered our assistant coach, Mike Vitelli has the mind of a 12 year old, because he hangs out with them in gym class all day long. The seniors called the freshmen out for forgetting their most important job: bringing the balls on the bus. Everyone was aware of the joke, sat straight up in their seats and tried extremely hard to not laugh at Michelle Kelly standing tall on the back of the bus with her fake demanding stare. Coach Katie Lambert-Conover looked at us like she was in shock. As I said, Vitelli easily called us out, but for a few minutes we had our fun. It's all about the team bonding and doing things that puts a smile on 24 faces. It's the reason why we go out there and make it rain...we all know 23 other people have our backs 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The theme of our season is "No Matter What." Michelle Kelly and I, as captains, gave our team hearts to tie to our stick bags to symbolize wearing our hearts on our sleeve and leaving everything on the field. We feel this team has something special to give and there's no other team we'd rather lead.
