The Super Six Seniors Run the last Mile
We honestly never thought the day would come that a coach told us we had to run our last timed mile ever. After 4 years of running around the W.B. Mason track, we have finally crossed the finish line. Few come in under 6:00 minutes. There's a pack at around the 6:15 mark and another at about 6:45. Some run better with a ball in their stick and settle with that. No matter who it is, we have burned some serious sweat on the 1 mile timed run. It puts a pit in our stomach and causes us to want to regurgitate our food even though it is only 4 laps. Deep down inside, the six seniors know we'd rather be running that mile next year than not playing lacrosse in college anymore.
With two and a half weeks left in our regular season, we've realized we are in the midst of running the last mile in our college career. This has been an amazing team and one that we will always remember. We might have scared the freshmen a little on the first day, but they've gotten used to our personalities and sense of humor. From all the questions they ask to getting the nets on the field everyday, we think they are a class we are lucky to play with.
In order to honor their seniors, the freshmen asked us if they could come up with a list of their top reasons why the love the super 6 seniors. Of course we told them that was perfectly fine with us. We'll take the compliments all day long. I've often heard the quote from freshman, Samantha Lynott, "Practice was so quiet without you today. What are we going to do without you next year?" For their list, they used a little help from the juniors and sophomores, since they have played with us longer. But without further ado, here is The Top Ten Reasons they love their Seniors:
- Valerie's impressions, which are "socially unacceptable."
- Becca laughing at her own jokes
- Mary's recklessness with sour cream
- Manelle's uncanny ability to come up with any stat in the NE-10
- Justine's adventurous outdoorsy personality, which allows her to get along with anyone
- MK's constant whiplash when she takes the hits on the field
- Family Dins: you can always find one of them in the caf during any point in the day
- They're all potty trained...well most of the time
- Their ability to lead us both on and off the field with their "No Matter What" attitudes
- Senior Pic
They know how much we can't help constantly getting pictures of the 6 of us. We just always have to ask them to take the picture for us!

We have taken down a few more teams and have the confidence we will continue to stay on top during this last mile of our college careers. Merrimack put up a fight, but it wasn't good enough. They caught us on a bad night, just not as bad as our pizza hut disaster. Franklin Pierce has gotten a lot better, but we took it away from them early. Former teammate Emily Whetmore, coached on the other side for that game, but we all knew deep down at heart she needs her alma mater to win. We are facing our biggest game on Saturday as we head down to Long Island to play Adelphi University. We want to get a team win from a fight that will be down and dirty. MK deserves nothing but a big W on her 22nd birthday. With the attitudes, the desire and the sacrifice we have as a team, we know we can make it happen. The freshmen gave us a nice little list and we want to show them what it is to win one of the biggest lacrosse games they will ever play.
