Bloggin’ From the Boot
By Matt Hall
It is the morning of day
three of our trip and we’re at Lake Como. Our bodies have
somewhat adjusted to the time difference and we survived the long
travel. I sat on the plane next to Nikola for the entire trip. He
slept maybe for one of the eight hours, and I watched him read The
Economist front to back, and then one more time from back to front.
When I asked why he is so into this edition, he responded,
"I’m going to be 24 soon. I don’t want to grow up but I
have no choice." Later he gave me a heads up about his new European
style of clothes that he eagerly was waiting to flaunt in Italy.
Hotel Como is where we
are staying for the next two days before heading to Florence. It is
a beautiful area. There is a pool on the rooftop with a nice view
overlooking the city and the Alps. I took some pictures and once I
get more time I will send them along. The city of Como is very
historic, with its withered cobblestone streets and gothic style
cathedrals. We have our first tour today at ten where we’ll
get a chance to get a closer feel for this extraordinary city. It
is a very interesting place, but unfortunately the nightlife is
sort of limited Most of the team went out last night with the
girl’s team, and we were the only people walking the streets.
Nikola wore a t-shirt that read in all caps, "I don’t have
time for you, I’m too busy playing video games."
Our first practice is tomorrow
and the first game the following day. It’s nice to rest for
now and recover from the long travel. We’re looking forward
to the rest of this very fortunate time that we get to experience
together!
