Track & Field Squads Receive Academic Honor
New Orleans, La. - Both the men's and women's track and field teams at Stonehill have been honored for their academic performance it was announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) it was recently announced.
The men's program and their cumulative 3.1 grade point average and the women's program and their 3.39 average were listed among the top teams in all of Division II.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the respective Division II Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
In addition to the team honors, senior captain Jenny Gardynski (Everett, Mass.) was named to the USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Team for the third consecutive season.
